It’s been quite a ride, but unfortunately it has to come to an end. We started this podcast three years ago as three Ryerson University students (who didn’t even know each other) with a passion for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Fast forward and this show grew steadily and we have to thank each and every one of you who listened to us. So here it is, the final show ever of the Leafs Lounge podcast, featuring special guest, TSN Insider Darren Dreger.
You can hear our interview with Dreger at 35:10
The NHL offseason is heating up but the Leafs Lounge podcast has concluded for the Summer. Enter a new segment to Leafs Lounge: the Offseason Roundtable, a video podcast series providing the latest news and opinions on the Toronto Maple Leafs through the NHL offseason. Here is episode 1, on Las Vegas, a preview of the draft, the Frederik Andersen trade/signing and even a few stories on running into former members of the Leafs organization. If you like the video make sure to give it a thumbs up!
The 2015-16 Leafs season was filled with ups and downs. We saw one of the worst finishes statistically but also saw a change in attitude. The team is finally on a committed longterm plan and the prospects look good. We brought in Steve Dangle for our final podcast of the season to talk about his thoughts on the season, where the rebuild is right now and where it’s headed as well as give his career advice.
Thank you to everyone who has listened to us through the years!
Kadri or Bozak? Gardiner or JVR? As the season is coming to an end, we introduce a hypothetical segment: “Who would you rather trade?” where we choose between two current (or former) Leafs and decide which player we’d rather have moving forward. Have a listen and give us your opinion on Twitter!
Is there such a thing as a team winning too much? On this episode, we discuss whether Mike Babcock has made this Leafs too good through certain roster decisions, preventing them from having the best chance at winning the draft lottery. We also discuss if the Penguins recent success will affect where the Leafs’ potential second 1st round pick will be.
We also pick up from last week for part two of our expansion draft protection and end the podcast answering our Twitter question, on who we’d draft if the Leafs pick 4th. Let us know on Twitter who you’d draft if the Leafs pick 4th!
Scott Wheeler from Pension Plan Puppets and Future Considerations joins us to talk about the Leafs best call-up from the Marlies, which prospect should get more attention and who the Leafs should draft with Pittsburgh’s 1st rounder.
Following the Trade Deadline, several Marlies players were called up to the Leafs. We break down the debuts of those Marlies players and preview their play for the following week. We discuss who should be the next captain of the Leafs and discuss whether the Leafs’ prospect pool decreases the need to sign Steven Stamkos.
This was one of the least exciting Trade Deadline Day we’ve seen in years. On this episode of the podcast, we breakdown the final hour of the 2016 NHL Trade Deadline live (2-3pm). Unfortunately it was not a very active deadline and the Leafs made no trades. We try to keep things interesting as best as we can though!
The Leafs Lounge podcast returns for 2016! On this episode, we give our thoughts on the 2016 NHL All-Star Game, preview the Leafs new logo for 2017 and our thoughts for the second half of the Leafs season. Give it a listen and tell us on Twitter what you think of this episode!
Unfortunately this is our final podcast of the semester. On this episode, we discuss the Leafs goaltending situation, what’s wrong with the Oilers (including potential trades that might be made with the Leafs) and a preview of the upcoming month of hockey. Also in this episode is a World Junior prospect preview of Leafs prospects who might be playing in the annual tournament.
While we are done recording podcasts until the new year, make sure to follow us on Twitter for any new blogs we post as well as updates about when we start back recording new shows. Thanks again for all the support so far!
